The cosmopolitan heart of the nation

Arrival at Tokyo International Airport (HND), welcome and transfer to the hotel by private car. Check-in at your hotel in the heart of Tokyo and free morning at your leisure to relax at the hotel's spa. Lunch at leisure. 2 PM Departure for the guided tour of Tokyo (excursion can be customized according to your interests). Don't miss: Tsukiji Fish Market, Meiji Shrine, Asakusa Kannon Temple, Nakamise Gallery and Tokyo SkyTree, the world's tallest freestanding tower. Dinner at a scenic restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

The Kyoto of Kanto region

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the outskirts of Tokyo, to the ancient coastal town of Kamakura. Surrounded by hills and a long beach, Kamakura is one of Japan's most beautiful cities. Your tour includes visits to several Buddhist temples in the city, including the Hasedera Temple, home of the Great Buddha, and Zen Buddhist temples with their beautiful Japanese gardens. Return to Tokyo in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Sunrise optional activity: NATURE TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. Continuation to Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan, by train (2h 30 min). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and time at leisure for lunch. At 3 P.M. meet the guide and start the visit to Kyoto and its zen gardens. In Kyoto, you can't miss the Fushimi Inari, the icon of the country itself; the bamboo forest in Arashiyama; the Philosopher's Walk; Kinkaku-Ji, Kiyomizudera, the charming districts of Gion and Pontocho and the characteristic Nishiki Market. Traditional dinner. Overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning or optional excursions and activities. This afternoon, travel to the outskirts of Kyoto to reach Nara, Japan's first capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the impressive Todaiji Temple, famous for being the largest wooden building in the world and home to the country's largest Buddha statue; Nara Park, home to over 1,000 free-roaming deer; and Kasuga Taisha, one of Japan's most famous shrines.

Possibility of renting* at a local boutique, a wide range of traditional kimonos is recommended according to the excursion you wish to make. Traditional style hair and make-up service available.

Aman Kyoto

Breakfast at the hotel. 10:00 AM - transfer by private car to Aman Kyoto Resort (30 minutes), check-in, and rest of the day at your leisure to enjoy the resort's facilities and activities.

An idyllic oasis surrounded by maple, pine, and cedar trees and lapped by a babbling brook in a 72-acre forest, the Aman Kyoto offers five-star hospitality with dedication and attention to detail; imbued with a minimalist, contemplative luxury of art and tradition.

The interiors, in neutral, relaxing tones, have references to traditional Japanese architecture and lifestyle. What is different from the ancient codes is the landscape of the surrounding forest that invades the space, entering through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Similar to a typical ryokan, the rooms feature tatami floors, low furniture, cypress wood bathtubs, hanging lanterns and tokonomas, traditional niches designed to display artifacts or works of art, in which scrolls by Sakai Vasi Yuji and sake by Terada Teppei, used as decorative vases, can be found.



Activities: from yoga classes to ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arranging), the invitation to connect with nature and the country's culture is an essential aspect of a journey to Japan.

The food capital of Japan

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and departure for the nearby Kinkaku-Ji temple, a UNESCO heritage site. Afterward, continue to Osaka, the food capital of Japan. Transfer from Kyoto station by Shinkansen bullet train, which takes just 15 minutes to cover a distance of 56.4 km. On arrival in Osaka, visit Dotonbori, a popular shopping and entertainment district, illuminated by hundreds of lights, neon, and mechanized signs, including the famous Glico Running Man sign and the Kani Doraku crab sign. Take a trip to Hiraka T a place with high walls and shelves full of books, definitely worth a stop.
After enjoying the atmosphere and shops, sample local delicacies like a local on the street food tour: sample Osaka's famous takoyaki (octopus dumplings), okonomiyaki savoury pancakes, ramen noodles, kushikatsu fried skewers, and even Fugu (pufferfish). In the afternoon, watch a sumo match. Possibility to attend a performance of Noh Theatre, the world's oldest theatrical art famous for its simple and essential movements, beautiful and artistic masks, and unique form of dialogue (schedule for dates not yet published). Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel and depart by train to Gero. Check in to the renowned Yunoshimakan. Gero is considered one of Japan's three most famous onsen (hot springs) towns, known for its relaxing, mineral-rich waters and pristine natural environment.
Located on the Hida River and surrounded by mountains, the Gero hot springs date back over 1,000 years. For generations, the clear alkaline water has been known to leave the skin soft and smooth.
In Gero, there is no shortage of things to do, such as enjoying a shirasagi-za shadow theatre performance, dining in an authentic gassho-zukuri-style thatched house, trying your hand at pottery painting or Japanese washi papermaking.
A traditional Japanese dinner is served at the Ryokan.

Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed by train (approx. 45 minutes) to Takayama, a picturesque town nestled in the Japanese Alps. On arrival at the station, transfer by shared minivan to your traditional ryokan in the heart of the old town.

Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Japanese Alps, Takayama, with its sloping-roofed wooden houses, historic inns, and centuries-old sake breweries is a town that has retained a unique charm over time. Far from the hustle and bustle of large urban centers, Takayama maintains its own lifestyle, characterized by morning markets and one of the most important - and spectacular - festivals in Japan.

Enjoy the day at your leisure to relax and soak up the serene atmosphere and timeless traditions of this historic city, or take part in a guided excursion to Takayama's beautifully preserved old town and the village of Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO site.

Start the day with a visit to the bustling morning market along the Miyagawa River, filled with local crafts and agricultural products. Visit the San-machi Suji district, the former home of merchants and sake brewers, and the Takayama Jinya, the palace that once housed the local government. In the afternoon, take the bus to the Shirakawa-go region. Your guide will show you the village, famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some dating back 250 years.

Gassho-zukkuri translates as 'Praying Hands', as the steep thatched roofs of the farms resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer, and are designed to withstand the heavy snowfalls that fall in the region. Return to Takayama.

Meet the Snow Monkeys

Breakfast at your accommodation. Depart by train for Nagano and visit to observe monkeys bathing in the hot springs. About 300 wild monkeys live in this park. Continue to Tokyo by train. Dinner and overnight.
